9 May 2008: Manual on Drawing HM Faces from Photos
Now we have a manual with a step-by-step explanation on how to design a HM face starting from a photograph. It could be a celebrity, a face you like or your own! To help you in trying out this new feature, upload of HM faces will be free for a limited period.

2 May 2008: NEW: Added Faces to HM items
Now you can add a face to your GC character. It can be your own fantasy creation, a celebrity or something close to yourself, as you prefer. You can also have several 'faces' to change as you please. To see how it looks, check Judy's post on the Catwalk Diva. The right face will surely improve your chance at the Prom Night!.

1 May 2008: Introduced Perfume in GC
As part of the Charlie promotion, we have introduced perfume in GC. To try it, go to the make-up shop.

30 April 2008: Reduced Top Voters List to 100
We have reduced the Top Voters List to 100, as members with too few votes were getting in the list.

29 April 2008: Removed Outline from GC Bodies
We have noticed that outlines are never used in HM clothes, which rely on colours to define the volume, so the outline on the character was looking odd, like a painted item put on top of a drawing, so we have eliminated the outline, and substituted it with deeper shadows where needed. We think it is better now (eg the CDs look more natural).

31 March 2008: Game Leader Job
We have created the Game Leader job, with its new badge. Game Leaders have access to pages allowing them to set up and run various social games, such as Treasure Hunt, Guess Next, Live Quiz etc.

We have three new badges: Game Leader, Top Treasure Hunter and Top Word Guesser. They have been designed by three very talented members.

24 March 2008: General Gmail from Lola can be deleted too
It used to be that you could not delete general gmails from Lola, and you had to wait a few days until we deleted it (the reason was that there was one copy only of that mail visible by everybody, to avoid placing 320k messages in the gmail DB). However, now we have found a way to do it, so you can delete the general mail from lola too

24 March 2008: Added Ability to change Gpage Homepage
Until now, it was not possible to delete a Gpage if it was set as the homepage for that site. Now you can build another page, then set the new one as homepage for that site (there is a new 'Set HomePage' button under 'Update pages'), and then you can delete the old homepage

19 March 2008: Language Filter Updated
Following many criticisms, we had a look at the language filter. That LF was created in the time when the average age on Girland was 13 years old, and we had 9 years old around, so it was very protective. Now, the average age is closer to 17, so there is no need for the same level of protection. Also, we have many more experienced Guardians, able to intervene if some words (which may be unsuitable in some context, but not in other) is used to offend. So, we updated the filter, leaving only the words which should be offensive or dangerous in most contexts. Please let us know if you still find words blocked which should not be, and also if you see words going through which should be blocked. Thanks to everybody who contributed with suggestions and criticism.

Now you can add a smiley in the title of your message, using a smiley code. A drop down menu with the code for each smiley has been added

Now you can check the week's fixture on the updated Events page. As you can see, we are having a Big Team Treasure Hunt, a Small Team Treasure Hunt, a Pass The Tag record attempt, a Guess Next game (a new one in preparation) and a Late Drink every week. We start tonight, Lesley will be running a Tag record attempt at 8pm in the Games BB. We plan to add more events (live quizzes, live fashion shows) etc, so you will have something to look forward to every day!

Now you can have your own BB! You can use it as a forum, a blog, a diary, a private chat, a newspaper etc. You have lots of controls over who can access it and when!

16 February 2008: Special Friends Share Personal Pics
Special friends can now use each other's personal gpics. As well as a tangible sign of closeness, this can also be used if you would like to have a special pic to represent your group of friends, which nobody else can use. This works both in layouts and it profiles..

15 February 2008: Choose your Special Friend
Now you can choose some members as your special friends and, if they choose you too, you become special friends. Their name will appear on your Profile, and yours in theirs. Soon there will be facilities available to special friends, such as access to reserved profile pages, messages telling you when they are online, possibility to wear each other clothes etc.

Now all your latest contributions in each section appear in your Profile. An ideal way to show your friends what you have been creating recently!

Auctions : Auctions page to sell all kind of things, hm GC stuff, layouts, avatars, gcards, services

Dancing Queen : Add timing for each move, add way of preview sequences, add turn around, move along, jump and incline, add facial expressions

Dancing Queen : Add clothes divided into pieces, so that they can move with the body (very difficult in 2D, don't know if we'll ever do it...)

Dancing Queen : Add ability to take the moves into GC (very difficult, maybe in a special dancing place)

Badges: New way to award Layout Maker, Avatar Maker and GC Guide badges. Right now they are appointed by helpers. In future, they should be elected by existing badge holders, after having achieved some requirements

Badges: Layout Makers and Avatar Makers will have to sell a certain amount of layout/avatars in each month, or they will lose their badge. This is to avoid people getting the badge and then forgetting about that job

GC: Add Space And Movement System. This means that movement will not cost the same in energy and fluids wherever you are, but it will cost less for short distances (e.g. inside the same building) and more for longer ones. It will also depends on the type of effort required (walking, car, bus etc). There will also be a stamina element: the more you move, the less energy you need to move and viceversa

Language Filter : It needs to be updated, so that people cannot get round it with simple tricks, and at the same time see if we can make it more context dependent, so that some words are banned only in some contexts. We also plan to have a facility where people can insert samples of words which should have been blocked, but have been allowed through; and words which would have been ok in the context, but have been blocked

Quiz Gamble: A way for members to submit questions/answers pairs, with difficulty levels. Those who do it well, get a badge and a salary, and can add questions which are used in the game

VB: improve AI in VBs, especially ability to remember the relationship and to relate better to input requiring context analysis

GPics: a way of checking how many decorators point a pic is earning

System: a way of automatically detecting if the computer has got the right flash plug in, has Java enabled etc

HOF/GC: a way of entering HOFs directly from GC, with evidence from the logs. Needed for things such as requests for cyber, begging etc

Gcards: new system allowing a member to create their own set of gcards to sell and setting up prizes for completion (as part of personal area/blog)

Gmail: if the recipient name has changed, the mail should find the new name automatically, not reject it

Gpoints: setting up of a points bank. Some members (with lots of points) would finance it, other could borrow from it (at an interest) or deposit their points there

Join: pledge for new members to agree, declaring that they will respect girland rules and regulations

Status: new set of statuses. Also make sure that they can be got only if the right number of badges are there too

New Page: art page

Ecards: new set of animated ecards with music

CD, FG: ability to see the back of the character by clicking on it

Karaoke Page : a page with the background music, to sing along and post it, with votes for the best singers etc.

GC and Profiles: possibility to see the names of items creators under the character in profiles

Donations: ability to add note with donation
